Lawrence police conducted special patrols last Friday and Saturday nights in the Oread neighborhood to target underage drinking and other violations.

Sgt. Trent McKinley said Friday night and early Saturday four officers on overtime, six regular duty officers and one sergeant either cited or arrested 46 people for various crimes. Police saw 35 alcohol violations, three moving traffic violations, four that were drug-related, four for littering, four for urinating in public, and two for intoxicated pedestrians in the roadway. McKinley said officers also issued more than 30 alcohol-related citations Saturday night and Sunday morning before they discontinued the patrol to respond to a serious injury accident that occurred at 1:26 a.m. in the 1600 block of Tennessee Street.
