A rural Tonganoxie woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday near Basehor.

Ronda R. Andrews, 53, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape about 3:35 p.m. Friday at 158th Street and U.S. Highway 24-40. She was at the stop sign facing north and then started to take a left onto U.S. Highway 24-40 headed west when a truck, headed east on U.S. 24-40, struck her vehicle on the driver’s side, Leavenworth County Undersheriff Ron Cranor said.

U.S. 24-40 is a divided four-lane highway.

Richard D. Percival, 41, of rural Leavenworth, was driving a 2010 Ford F-250 truck. Henry Jackson, 34, of Leavenworth, was a passenger. Both were wearing seat belts and declined medical attention at the scene. American Roofing in Leavenworth was the owner of the truck.

Cranor said he didn’t have information about whether Andrews was wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Services, he said.

Andrews was a second-grade teacher at Genesis Christian Academy in Tonganoxie.
