FSHS softball sweeps SM West

? Free State softball took a double-header at Shawnee Mission West on Thursday in Overland Park, a 14-0 five-inning rule-rule, followed by a 5-4 win.

Meredith Morris (4-3) shut out SM West in the first game, and a host of Firebirds contributed at the plate. Sam O’Brien hit her second home run of the season and batted in five runs. Remington Samuels and Alex Hill each went 3-4 and scored three runs, and Whitney Rothwell went 3-3.

Kaley Delg (3-3) won the second game, closed out with a save by Morris, as Free State scratched out a one-run win despite leaving the bases loaded twice.

Free State (7-6) hosts Olathe Northwest on Tuesday.
