From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for April 25, 1987:
- There had been a bit of shuffling among the staff of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers since last summer. Frank Funk, former project manager at Milford Lake near Junction City, had taken over as Perry Lake project manager late last August. A new face was also greeting visitors to Clinton Lake this year, as Sherry Richardson had had replaced Tim Carey as park manager. Carey had replaced Funk at his Milford Lake position last fall.
- The Gideons, a Christian business and professional men's association, were holding their annual Kansas convention at the Lawrence Holidome this week. The members, known mostly for their volunteer work of donating copies of the Bible to hotels and motels since the early 1900s, said that they tried to keep a low profile in their work, which also included speaking at colleges and churches.
