? Lawrence High’s boys tennis team placed fourth among 10 teams Tuesday in the Topeka West Invitational.

The Lions’ Randy Walter went 4-2 in singles, and Matt Mikel and Victor Andrade combined to go 3-3 in doubles.

“I’m not exactly pleased with how I played, but you’ve got to work through it,” Irick said, adding he liked the challenge of playing six matches in one day.

“It was a lot of fun,” Irick said.

Added LHS coach Chris Marshall, “I was overall very pleased. Randy played some good players very well. He gets better and better And Thomas did a good job in pool play.”

Of Grom and Leggins, Marshall said, “We played really well coming out of the gate. Overall I’m very pleased with where they’re at. Hopefully we can keep that upward spiral.”

The Lions will compete Friday in the Lawrence Invitational.
