40 years ago: ‘All in the Family’ picks up 11 Emmy nominations

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for April 16, 1972:

  • Nominations for the Emmy awards had been announced this week. “All in the Family” had received 11 nominations for all four of its stars as well as in the comedy writing category. Peter Falk and his show “Columbo” had 10 nominations, while the made-for-TV movie “Brian’s Song,” starring James Caan and Billy Dee Williams, had received 11 nominations.
  • Movies showing in Lawrence this weekend included “Mary, Queen of Scots,” “The Culpepper Cattle Co.,” “The Godfather,” “The Last Picture Show,” and “Diamonds Are Forever.”
