Topeka ? Lawrence High tennis players Matt Grom and Pace Leggins combined to win the doubles competition, and Thomas Irick took second place in singles Saturday at the Washburn Rural All-Comers meet.

Grom and Leggins won all four of their matches, and Irick went 3-1.

Victor Andrade and Randy Walter placed eighth and ninth in first-draw singles, and Jason Lee went 3-1 and placed second in second-draw singles. Tim Thongone and Kley Bolivar were seventh in doubles.

“Thomas looked really good his first three matches,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “I was really pleased with my No. 1 doubles team (Grom and Leggins). Overall it was a successful tournament for us.”
