LHS baseball claims 3-2 win

? Troy Willoughby drove in two runs with a double and a triple and combined with Cameron Solko on a five-hitter Tuesday night as Lawrence High’s baseball team edged Leavenworth, 3-2.

Solko (3-0) started and allowed four hits in five innings. Willoughby picked up the save, yielding just one hit over the final two innings.

“Cameron was ahead of hitters all day,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “He kept them off balance with his breaking ball. Troy was very effective. Both those guys were just awesome.”

Jacob Vinoverski and C.J. Roush each went 2-for-3 for the Lions, and C.J. Stuever scored two of the Lions’ runs.

LHS (5-3) will face Shawnee Mission East at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson County 3&2.
