• Meyer also recently received the American Hospital Association’s state 2011 Grassroots Champion Award. The award was presented by Tom Bell, president of the Kansas Hospital Association, during LMH’s board meeting March 28. The American Hospital Association award was created eight years ago to recognize hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues affect the hospital’s vital role in the community, who have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for the hospital, and are tireless advocates for the hospital and its patients.

• The final installment of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce’s Eggs and Issues 2012 legislative series will be 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. April 21 at the Eldridge Hotel, 701 Mass.
