Free State wins Topeka swim meet

? Free State High went 1-2-3 in diving and 1-2 in the 100 free and won the team title Thursday at the Topeka Swimming and Diving Invitational.

Bishop Seabury Academy took two individual titles and placed fifth in the team standings.

For FSHS, Annie Soderberg, Jacqueline Zaitz and Brooke Leslie placed first through third in diving, and Courtney Caldwell and Eliza Anderson placed first and second in the 100 free.

Anderson also won the 200 free, and Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck won the 100 backstroke. Free State’s 200 free relay team — Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Anderson, Katie Kimbrough and Morgan Miller — also won.

The Firebirds had 496 points to hold off Washburn Rural, runner-up with 488.

Seabury’s Reese Edwards won the 200 individual medley, and Phoebe Grabill won the 100 butterfly.

Seabury was fifth with 229 points, behind Topeka (300) and Osawatomie-Paola (250).

FSHS will head today to the Olathe Invitational.

Seabury will travel April 21 to Blue Valley Northwest.
