Olathe Garrett Cleavinger pitched a no-hitter while striking out 11, and Lawrence High’s baseball team defeated Olathe South, 3-0, on Thursday night.
“He was pretty special. He got stronger as the game went on,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said of Cleavinger, who walked four batters. “His velocity increased, and he really pitched tonight. He set guys up. He pitched instead of just throwing.”
C.J. Roush went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base, and Jake Vinoverski was 2-for-3 with a double and stolen base.
The Lions (4-3) will play Tuesday at Leavenworth.
