Tennis classes, leagues, lessons: The Jayhawk Tennis Center is enrolling for fall classes and lessons. Sandrat Trail Run: The 19th Sandrat Trail Run will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Ballard Center, North Seventh Street and Elm. The run is approximately 9.5 miles on the Kansas River trails. Head for the Cure: The third annual Head for the Cure 5k, benefiting Brain Tumor Trials Collaborate, will be at 8 a.m. Sunday. The race begins at South Park in downtown Lawrence. Trail running clinic: A trail running clinic will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Garry Gribble’s RunningSports, 839 Mass. Street. Information about trail running form, tactics and equipment will be discussed, as well as information about trail routes in the area. Cheer openings: Lawrence Cheer Athletics has spaces available on the competitive dance and cheer teams for the 2011-2012 season. There are openings for the 11U, 14U, 18U and college cheer teams. Senior golf: Lawrence’s William Benso placed third in 70-74 net scoring, and John Reese was third in 75-up gross scoring at the 2001 Men’s Kansas Senior Invitational Golf Association Championship, which was held Sept. 21-22 at Rolling Hills and Tallgrass country clubs in Wichita.
