The 10th annual Nordic Heritage Festival is set for Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper.

The event, scheduled from noon to 8 p.m., will feature craft booths from noon to 4:30 p.m. and a dance and Scandinavian potluck starting at 5:15 p.m.

Activities include performances from Viking Living History re-enactors, Kansas City Scandinavian Dancers and musicians Byron Wiley and Ingevalds Spelmän. The featured event, “King Gustuv’s Ball,” is part community dinner, part interactive historical theater performance, organizer Marilyn Myers says.

Myers expects as many as 300 people, which makes the festival small in comparison to many Nordic heritage events in Iowa and Minnesota, but “a lot for our area,” she said. Admission is a $5 donation at the door.
