Two people transported after injury accident near McDonald’s on 23rd Street

Two people were transported to a local hospital Saturday afternoon after a two-car accident in the 900 block of 23rd Street, near the McDonald’s restaurant, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley.

Just before 3 p.m. Saturday, a blue Geo Metro rear-ended a stopped black Ford Explorer on 23rd Street as both were heading east on the roadway.

The driver of the Ford Explorer complained of back pain, and was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, McKinley said. A 6-year-old girl in the front seat of the Geo Metro received minor facial injuries after an airbag deployment, and was also transported by ambulance, he said.

The other people involved in the accident were not seriously hurt, he said.
