From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Sept. 10, 1911:

• “G. A. Hardy, who has been missing from Baldwin for over a week, returned to his home today riding his little pony and without knowing how much worry he had occasioned. Mr. Hardy explained that he had been on a long horse trading trip and that he had been doing business between Lawrence and Kansas City since he left here. He did not know that a search was being made for him and returned this morning just as he had left several days ago.”
• “A. D. Weaver has returned from the east where he has been purchasing the fall stock for the Weaver Dry Goods Store. He reports a splendid trip and a new line of bargains to be offered the people of Lawrence this winter at the Weaver Store. These goods will begin to arrive soon and will be here ready for display when the re-modeling of the store is completed. Mr. Weaver was greatly pleased with the work that was done on the building while he was away and feels that he will soon have his business in one of the handsomest buildings in town. The new front is certainly a beauty and Mr. Weaver has a right to feel proud of it.”
