Douglas County jury convicts man of manufacturing methamphetamine at hotel

A Douglas County jury Monday afternoon convicted a 58-year-old man of manufacturing methamphetamine in September 2009 in Douglas County.

Jurors found Douglas L. Snowden guilty of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance after they began deliberating Tuesday morning.

Douglas County assistant district attorneys James McCabria and Mark Simpson in the four-day trial accused Snowden of manufacturing meth at the Airport Motel just northeast of Lawrence on U.S. Highway 24-40.

District Judge Peggy Kittel is scheduled to sentence Snowden Oct. 21, and she revoked his bond and ordered him held in the Douglas County Jail Tuesday after the verdict.
