To the editor:

Brownback touted himself as creating jobs in Kansas when he got elected. So far, the only jobs he’s created are high-paying administrative jobs at the SRS for out-of-state cronies. Now, buried in an Aug. 30 article (“No insurance exchange in Kansas…”), we find that he’s awarded a $135 million contract to a Texas firm to develop a “computerized system that … will make it easier … to apply for social services and also increase identification of fraud in Medicaid and other programs…”

In addition to my wondering if the contract was a no-bid contract, I see that Brownback said the following in one action: He wants to create jobs in Texas, but not Kansas; he doesn’t think a Kansas development firm is capable of creating the system; and he’s more concerned with Texas because it has more electoral votes than Kansas. Very well done, three sucker punches at once.
