Man pleads guilty in 1981 shooting death

? A 50-year-old Kansas City man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the 1981 shooting death of a Kansas postal worker during a robbery.

The Kansas City Star reports that Gary Holcomb Sr. pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Philip Whitehead on April 2, 1981.

Whitehead was shot during a robbery at his home in Leawood. Prosecutors say Holcomb was not the shooter but he was part of the robbery that led to the shooting. Under the plea agreement, Holcomb will be sentenced Dec. 1 to a prison term of 12 1/2 years to life.
