25 years ago: KU employees give feedback on morale

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Oct. 26, 1986:

  • Employees at Kansas University were getting a chance to sound off about their jobs. Questionnaires were being mailed to a sample of KU workers to quantify their level of job satisfaction. According to organizers, this was an effort to show the Kansas Legislature an idea of the morale among KU employees due to low salary increases and strained resources.
  • Democrat Jim Slattery, who had been representing the 2nd district of northeast Kansas in Congress for the past four years, said he was “not too worried” about the challenge of Republican Phill Kline in the Nov. 4 general election. “I take all of my opponents seriously. I take Mr. Kline seriously. I am relatively confident but what is important is what happens on election day,” Slattery said.
