Share the Warmth program begins collection today

Scotch Fabric Care is ready to collect, clean and distribute its 202,757th coat through its Share the Warmth program.

And then its 202,758th, and 202,759th, and on and on.

The cleaning business will open its familiar blue barrels today at its six locations in Lawrence and others in Topeka, beginning its 25th year of accepting used coats, blankets, scarves and gloves to help folks get through the winter months. Lawrence Parks and Recreation also will be collecting coats.

Items placed in barrels through Nov. 23 are cleaned and sent to the Salvation Army for distribution in early December. So far, the Scotch effort has collected and cleaned 202,756 coats in Lawrence and Topeka.
