Man convicted in auto burglary

A Douglas County jury earlier this week convicted a 45-year-old Lawrence man in connection with a May 2 auto burglary in west Lawrence.

Prosecutors accused Dennis O. Johnson of stealing a semitrailer driver’s personal items and fleeing the area, which was the 3500 block of Clinton Parkway. Lawrence police stopped Johnson in a vehicle 15 minutes later after witnesses described his vehicle. Assistant District Attorney Deborah Moody prosecuted the case, and District Judge Paula Martin is scheduled to sentence Johnson Nov. 18. He faces five to 17 months in prison on the burglary charge.
