Kansas Highway Patrol putting extra troopers on the road for Saturday’s KU-KSU game

The Kansas Highway Patrol plans extra traffic patrols around the area for Saturday’s Sunflower Showdown game at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence.

After the 11 a.m. game between Kansas University and Kansas State University, the KHP will conduct a saturation patrol in Lawrence, and troopers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers. The Kansas Department of Transportation is funding the extra patrols through a grant.

Troopers also are reminding drivers to use their seat belts and have children in proper safety restraints.

The KHP requests drivers use the West Lawrence exit on the Kansas Turnpike due to construction on a bridge near the east Lawrence exit.
