A Southwest Middle School student was transported by ambulance from the school to Lawrence Memorial Hospital just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Division Chief Lyle Schwartz of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical said that the student was transferred “as a precaution” with non-life-threatening injuries after being hit during a football game at South Middle School.
