Kansas City, Kan., man injured in motorcycle accident Saturday night on Clinton Parkway

A 26-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday night in west Lawrence.

Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman, said Derrian Goldsmith, 26, told police he laid his 2009 Kawasaki 600 motorcycle down in the westbound lanes of Clinton Parkway to avoid an object in the roadway. The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. Saturday near the intersection with Olympic Drive, which is the entrance to the Jayhawk Tennis Center and Pinnacle Woods Apartments west of Wakarusa Drive.

Goldsmith was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Saturday night with injuries that were not life-threatening, Sarna said. LMH spokeswoman Belinda Rehmer said Monday that Goldsmith was treated and released from the hospital. Sarna said Monday debris in the roadway was listed as a contributing factor to the crash, but he said officers were still investigating the accident.
