LHS tennis edged by power SM East

? In its final tune-up before regionals play, Lawrence High’s girls tennis team fell to Shawnee Mission East, 5-3, Tuesday on the road.

The Lions will compete at regionals on Friday at the LHS tennis facility, with the opportunity to advance some players to the state tournament on Oct. 14-15 in Wichita.

“This was a great dual to prepare us for regionals,” LHS coach Chris Marshall said. “Shawnee Mission East is one of the best teams in the state. I’m very pleased with how we did.”

Brooke Braman won the No. 4 singles match for the Lions, 8-2, over Katie Spradling of Shawnee Mission East.

Lawrence won two of three matches in doubles competition.

Taylor Eubanks and Abby Gillam, along with Chloe Clement and Haley Ryan triumphed for the Lions.
