Blue Rapids Museum north of Topeka to host Smithsonian exhibit

? A museum in a small northeast Kansas town will be a partner site for the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit highlighting the working world.

The Blue Rapids Museum said in a news release Monday that it had received a $1,410 grant from the Kansas Humanities Council to host the “The Way We Worked” exhibition.

The Blue Rapids Museum, along with other museums, historical societies and public libraries across the state, will use exhibits, oral history projects, public programs and special events to discuss working in Kansas.

The museum will use the grant money to photograph workers in the interior of all of Blue Rapid’s businesses next year. The museum also will undergo renovations to have a new room ready for the exhibition by mid-2013.
