Hero needed

To the editor:

It is indeed an ill wind which does not bring some good. Kansans are getting an advanced preview of what it would be like to have a conservative Republican administration. Mr. Brownback and Mr. Kobach are teaching us. This is particularly appropriate as we get set to review the present administration and perhaps replace it next November with a national conservative Republican program.

Americans are deeply disappointed in comparing promises and expectations vs. reality. We voted for radical changes, but instead got “let’s make a deal,” business as usual and, as a result, tossed out some in the first two years in favor of Republicans who have made it their primary agenda to block Obama’s every wish.

We thought we were electing a raging tiger three years ago and we got just a gentle house cat. It is doubtful if Mr. Obama will step out and allow us the choice between a fire eater and an Elmer Gantry. That’s too bad because it bodes ill for America when it is a Teddy Roosevelt that we need. Yes, I know he was a Republican, but so was Lincoln. Usually, when desperation is greatest, a hero emerges, but it is getting very late. It’s much like asking Jesus for help and getting a laborer with a lawn mower.
