From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 19, 1971:

• Kansas University Athletic Director Wade Stinson recently announced that students would not have to pay a higher price to see the Jayhawks play basketball this year. The Athletic Corporation had hoped to raise the price of student season tickets to $5.50, but they had been prevented from doing so by President Nixon’s Phase II wage and price guidelines. The tickets would therefore remain a bargain at $4 for the season.
• Officials at the KU School of Engineering today were saying that poor grades, not discrimination, were the reason they denied re-admittance to Iranian student. The student had originally enrolled in engineering, then had transferred to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and then tried to return to the engineering school, but his request had been denied. Engineering school officials pointed out that, according to a transcript released by the student, had he been in their school, “he would have been placed on the dismissed-for-poor-scholarship list for failure to achieve a C average during the academic year.”
