25 years ago: Wichita paper endorses Dole for president

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 18, 1986:

  • At the annual stockholders meeting of the recently-established Oread Laboratories, plans had been unveiled for the construction of a facility for the Lawrence-based center. The firm had been founded in August of 1983 to develop commercial uses for technology created at the KU Center for Bioanalytical Research
  • The Wichita Eagle-Beacon recently had endorsed U.S. Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan., for president. The 1988 presidential election was still nearly two years away, but the newspaper said it had made the unusually early declaration because “these are extraordinary times,” according to the editorial.
