Wichita man sentenced to life in prison in bachelor party murder

? A Wichita man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the death of a man during a night celebrating his brother’s bachelor party.

Twenty-nine-year-old Michael Reed was sentenced Thursday in the death of 33-year-old Vincent Barnes in May 2009.

Prosecutors say Reed didn’t shoot Barnes but he took his brother and another man to Barnes’ apartment and started the fight that led to the shooting.

They say Michael Reed wanted to buy cocaine from Barnes, who didn’t have any and was trying to turn his life around.

His brother, Robert Reed, who shot Barnes, is serving 19 years in prison. The third man, Jeremy Trouth, is serving 11 years.

The Wichita Eagle reports that Robert Reed was to be married the day after the shooting.
