25 years ago: Youth gymnastics program gaining in popularity

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 8, 1986:

  • Gymnastics was reported to be the most popular of the recreation programs offered by the city of Lawrence. Children ranging from 3 to 18 were participating in 32 different classes at three different skill levels. After reaching the intermediate or advanced levels, some of the students were being invited to join the Lawrence Gymnastics Team, which was beginning to compete this year.
  • Players, coaches, and fans at today’s Kansas-Colorado football game in Boulder might have been a bit uncomfortable, as temperatures in the Denver-Boulder area were in the teens in the morning and were not expected to climb out of the 20s by game time. Snow was also in the forecast.
