40 years ago: Missing girl’s body found; cousin to be charged

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 6, 1971:

Homicide charges were to be filed in Wyandotte County Court against Drury Lon Honeycutt, 25, of Lawrence, a cousin of an 11-year-old Lawrence girl whose body had been found near a rock quarry in Kansas City, Kansas. Honeycutt, who had been arrested in Arkansas, had agreed to waive extradition to Kansas on a charge of aggravated kidnapping. Douglas County Atty. Mike Elwell explained that his office did not have jurisdiction in the murder charges. The kidnapping warrant which was issued specified that Honeycuutt would not be allowed to post bond.
