Lawrence man suffers nonlife-threatening injuries after swerving deer

A 39-year-old Lawrence man was taken to the hospital Monday night after he swerved his Ford F-150 pickup truck to miss a deer, causing him to go over a sidewalk, under a nearby bridge and hit a concrete pillar head-on near Clinton Parkway and the South Lawrence Trafficway, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Blake McCall.

The man was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance with nonlife-threatening injuries. He was later treated and released, according to LMH. McCall said the man was wearing a seat belt. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Monday.
