KU defensive coordinator Carl Torbush retires

Assistant recently diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer

Kansas defensive coordinator Carl Torbush, shown in this 2009 file photo, has retired after recently being diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer.

Because of health reasons, Kansas defensive coordinator Carl Torbush announced today he is retiring from KU and college football.

Torbush, who served as KU’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach, was recently diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer. He will be having surgery in the near future and expects a full recovery.
