Small chance for thunderstorms Friday afternoon, early Saturday

The U.S. National Weather Service calls for a slight chance for severe weather Saturday, May 28, 2011, in northeast Kansas.

There is a small chance for thunderstorms Friday afternoon in Douglas County, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Friday’s storms are not expected to be severe.

Thunderstorms will likely redevelop overnight into Saturday. Areas along and southeast of Interstate 35 may see strong storms after midnight. Quarter-size hail is the primary threat with overnight storms, according to the NWS.

The chances for severe weather in Douglas County increase overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
