Bill Self has Boogie fever

Kansas head men’s basketball coach Bill Self is looking forward to his third Bill’s Basketball Boogie, set for Saturday, June 4, at College Basketball Experience next to Sprint Center.

Tickets remain and are available at basketballboogie.org.

“It’s going to be the party of the summer,” said Self, who will wear disco attire. His players also will attend with rumors of a special dance number with the players taking place.

“It’ll be cool. There will be some giveaways, unbelievable auction items. It goes toward a good cause (his Assists Foundation to benefit youths in the area),” Self said. “A lot of money has been going toward scholarships. I believe close to 50 different youth initiative organizations we’ve been given grants to. To benefit youth is our goal. If we benefit youth, obviously adults will benefit as well.”

Nearly 1,000 fans attended last year’s Boogie.

“It’s time to break out the polyester,” Self said with a smile. “It’s going to be a great, great time. You don’t even have to be a KU fan to attend. Everybody’s going to have a great time at the party of the summer.”
