Licensed educators will learn early next month how much money and benefits the Lawrence school district wants to invest in them for the coming year.

Wednesday evening, negotiators for the Lawrence Education Association learned that the district would propose a package covering wages, fringe benefits, extra-duty pay and other matters affecting the district’s more than 900 teachers and other licensed personnel for the coming academic year.

The package will be the subject of the two sides’ next negotiation session, set for 5:30 p.m. June 8 at district headquarters, 110 McDonald Drive.

The union is seeking a $1,500 raise for each licensed educator in the district, plus increases in supplemental and extra-duty pay. The union also requests that its president remain on the district’s full-time payroll, while working full-time on union responsibilities.
