Lawrence Douglas-County Fire Medical workers responded to an apartment fire in the 2500 block of West 25th Street around noon Monday.

The fire, which was on the first floor of the two-story building, was contained inside a wall, according to Division Chief Lyle Schwartz. Firefighters opened up the wall and extinguished the fire, which never extended to the outside wall.

Schwartz said the cause of the fire was still under investigation, but estimated the damage at around $1,000. The building was evacuated, but Schwartz said there were no injuries and nobody was displaced.
