One taken to hospital after two vehicle accident on U.S. 56

A 32-year-old Vassar man was injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Douglas County.

According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the accident occurred about 10:40 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 56 and U.S. Highway 59, just west of Baldwin City. According to the report, a Ford Explorer driven by a 26-year-old Olathe resident, was westbound on U.S. 56 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 59. The vehicle struck a Ford pickup truck in the passenger side.

There were four people involved in the accident. Three were uninjured. Chad Hicks, the passenger in the pickup truck, was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
