Colorado State vice provost named dean at Kansas State

? A vice provost from Colorado State University will be the new dean of Kansas State’s College of Arts and Sciences.

The Manhattan Mercury reports that Peter Dorhout will begin his new role Jan. 1. He currently is vice provost for graduate affairs and assistant vice president for research at Colorado State. He has been at the school in Fort Collins for more than 20 years, with positions ranging from research scientist to associate dean.

Kansas State Provost April Mason says in a statement that Dorhout has wide experience in research, teaching, service and administration.

Dorhout earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
