Derek J. Erwin, 23, rural Tonganoxie, who accidentally shot himself in the head Wednesday night, remained in serious condition Monday at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., hospital officials said. Officials said Erwin was shooting a handgun, after drinking several beers, and suffered a gunshot wound below his chin that exited at the top of his forehead.
