A 62-year-old Lawrence man turned himself in to the Douglas County Jail Saturday evening on a warrant for aggravated battery related to a March incident, according to Douglas County Jail records.

Darrell Joe Sharp was released on a $2,500 own recognizance bond and given notice to appear in district court May 19.

According to a police report, Sharp was a suspect in an alleged battery that occurred the afternoon of March 19 at Dillons, 1015 W. 23rd St. A 59-year-old Lawrence man was listed as the victim, and his eye glasses were damaged. Prosecutors have filed an aggravated battery charge against Sharp, according to jail records.
