A 21-year-old man with ties to a 2009 fight between Kansas University football and basketball players told a judge Tuesday he had two more anger management classes to complete related to a diversion agreement.

District Judge Kay Huff agreed to give Guy Lipscomb until to May 17 to complete the courses. Douglas County prosecutors had filed a motion asking Huff to revoke Lipscomb’s diversion alleging he had not completed the courses.

In September 2010 Lipscomb entered the agreement with prosecutors on two criminal threat charges he faced. Lipscomb, who was not a KU student, was accused of threatening to get a gun and shoot two women on Sept. 22, 2009, outside Jayhawker Towers in a parking lot.

According to earlier testimony one victim, who was a member of the KU track team, said she saw Lipscomb at a fight outside the Burge Union about an hour earlier before he made the alleged threats. KU basketball player Tyshawn Taylor injured his thumb in the Burge Union fight, and players from the two teams got into a second altercation the following morning outside Wescoe Hall.

Huff told Lipscomb if he completed the anger management counseling before May 17 he would not need to appear in court that day.
