Topeka ? U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and his wife are scheduled to be keynote speakers at a banquet commemorating the 57th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education ruling.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports Holder and his wife, Dr. Sharon Malone, will speak at 7 p.m. on May 17 in the Regency Ballroom at Topeka’s Ramada Inn and Convention Center.

Brown v. Board of Education was a landmark Topeka case that set the stage for racial desegregation in public schools in the U.S.

Cheryl Brown Henderson is president of the Brown Foundation. She says the foundation began hosting annual commemorative events in 1979 to remind residents of the state’s significance in the modern civil rights movement.

Reservations are $40 per person and will be accepted until May 12.
