Wichita ? A Wichita policeman has been charged with sexual crimes committed while he was on duty.

The Wichita Eagle reports that patrol officer Joseph McGill was charged Wednesday with felony aggravated sexual battery. He is accused of inappropriately touching a victim on Sunday. He was in uniform and driving a patrol car at the time.

A separate misdemeanor sexual battery charge was also filed for an alleged November incident.

McGill’s attorney, Steve Osburn, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The 27-year-old Wichita man has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

Police Chief Norman Williams says the hardest decision he had to make as chief was to say, “Book him.”
