  • A heat advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Thursday to 8 p.m. Friday.
  • An excessive heat watch will be in effect from Friday evening through Saturday evening.

An oppressively hot air mass will settle over northeast Kansas, bringing temperatures from 98 to 103 degrees through Saturday. Heat index values will range from 108 to 111 degrees through Friday.

If you plan to be outside, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and strenuous physical activity. Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids and wear light-colored, loose clothing.

Do not leave children or pets unattended in cars, as the temperature inside can become lethal in a matter of minutes.
