People sit in Constant Park downtown to watch the 2009 annual fireworks display put on by the Lawrence Jaycees.

Lawrence, Eudora, De Soto, McLouth and Ottawa are preparing for 2011 Fourth of July events and fireworks displays.

In Lawrence, there will be an all-day celebration at Watson Park, between Tennessee and Kentucky streets south of Sixth Street, starting at 2 p.m., which will feature food vendors, live music and a cooking competition. Organizers will also provide stadium seating in the park to watch the fireworks, which will begin about 9:45 p.m. Admission to the stadium seating costs $10.

The fireworks in Lawrence will be shot from Johnny’s Tavern north of the river. Burcham Park, Second and Indiana streets, and Constant Park, off Tennessee Street north of Sixth Street, are among places people can watch the fireworks for free.

Elsewhere on the Fourth of July:

Eudora

Cover band Classic Revolution will play at the Eudora Middle School, 2635 W. Church St., from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and fireworks begin at sundown. Food and drinks will be available from Cutter’s Smokehouse.

De Soto

Riverfest Park, 33639 W. 79th St., will host live music, food and craft vendors starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.

McLouth

McLouth residents can watch the fireworks in the bleachers at the Stan Braksick Sports Complex on Bulldog Boulevard. The fireworks will be shot east of the football field and begin around 9:45 p.m.

Ottawa

Ottawa residents can watch the fireworks at Forest Park, 600 N. Locust St., beginning at dusk.
