The severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County was allowed to expire at 9 a.m. Monday.

1:53 a.m. update

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Douglas County until 9 a.m. Monday.

Earlier Monday, at 1:45 a.m., the southern part of the county had been placed under a severe thunderstorm warning, which expired soon after 2 a.m.

The weather service had reported that the storm had been capable of producing half-dollar-sized hail, At 1:35 a.m., the storm had been reported near Globe, nine miles west of Baldwin City, moving northeast at 40 mph.
