4-H and FCE news for June 18, 2011

The Vinland FCE will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Paula Johnson, 1855 N. 700 Road, Baldwin City. The lesson, “Sugar: More Than Just A Sweetener,” will be given by Mary Lou Brown. Roll call will be answered by naming a sugar substitute.

The Eudora 4-H Club met June 6 at St. Paul United Church of Christ and was called to order by junior president Holly Swearigen. The club participated in singing “Little Green Frog” and played the game “What Are You Doing?”

Several committees met during the breakout session, including the bucket calf members, the Cattlemen’s Protection Agency float committee, the CPA trash pickup committee, and a club banner committee was formed.

Junior president Tucker Gabriel led the program, starting with happy birthdays to the club members who had June birthdays. The program continued with the installation of two new families and concluded with a presentation by the members of the rabbits project.

There were several fair-related announcements, and then the club honored its one graduating senior, Sam Merrill.

The club adjourned after saying the club pledge and motto. The next meeting will be at 3 p.m. July 10 at St. Paul UCC.
