Topeka ? A Kansas senator has been honored by the Kansas Bar Association for his service to the profession and work on a legislative committee.

The bar association presented Sen. Tim Owens, an Overland Park Republican, with a resolution thanking him for his dedication and professionalism in public service.

The resolution was presented during the bar’s annual convention in Topeka on June 8-10.

Owens, an attorney, is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He served as a state representative in the Kansas House from 2001 to 2008 and has been in the Senate since 2008.

The resolution also noted Owens’ support for the merit selection for members of the Kansas Court of Appeals and Kansas Supreme Court.
